Rev. Gordon H. Myers, Pastor

Some may think churches are just institutions that care only for the needs of their membership. Others may even have experienced church primarily as places of judgment and disapproval.
But at Abiding Savior we understand ourselves to be:
People of Grace
Growing in Faith
Making God's Love Known
People of Grace because Grace describes the basic character of our relationship with God. Some people will only love you when you do what they want or live up to their expectations. But God loves us even before we choose to follow Him. He doesn't wait until we are holy enough, worthy enough, or better than anyone else to love us. We don't earn God's love, He freely gives it to us. Knowing that God loves us in spite of all the ways we are un-lovable encourages us to work at being more loving, forgiving and accepting in all of our relationships.
Growing in Faith because living things grow! In a living relationship with God we have discovered that we can not be content to remain as we are. God constantly challenges us to grow fuller into who He created us to be. Living faith is always growing In, Up and Out.
Making God's Love Known because what God gives, He always expects to be shared. Because "God so loved the world that He gave his only Son" means that the work of the church is to share that love and Son not just in the things we say, but through everything we do and everything we are.
It has been my privilege to serve Abiding Savior and the Durham community for more than ten years now. Should there be any way in which I can be of service to you, please do not hesitate to let me know.
And if you are not an active part of a faith community where you are experiencing God's Grace, being challenged to Grow in your Faith or actively Making God's Love known through your daily life, then I invite you to give Abiding Savior a try.
You are always welcome at Abiding Savior!
God Bless,
Pastor Gordon
